MY STEEM STORY
Everyone has a story – and all our stories have something in common… we all started from nothing and knew nothing. People want to hear stories. They want to hear OUR stories — they want to know who we are, where we are from, what we are doing, who and what we love, what we have learnt and where we are going. People also want us to hear their story! Being a part of the Steem network is an individual journey for every single one of us and through this initiative we will share our stories not only with all who are already here – hopefully inspiring, guiding and informing them… but doing the same for everyone else in the world too. Through our stories we will prick the curiosity of those who have not yet arrived and illuminate and widen the already open doors to our one in a million blockchain.
We invite and encourage each and every one of you to participate and share your stories too! You can find the "how to" details at the end of this post.
MY STEEM STORY - BY @DETLEV
Where my Steem Journey began
Back in 2017, I was sitting with a guy at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hannover, Germany and he said
@detlev you have to join steem, this is cool!
Luckily, we did a picture from that meeting and as I'm a bit visual orientated, this story will get some more pics.
Lounging at CeBIT -
So, some days later I did my Introduceyourself post and there you may read about me.
I spend already some years in social media and networks like TSU.co or Empire-Avenue, where you express yourself by posts and other activities. There was as well Google Plus and Twitter where have a few connections since many years. So another blogging platform was an interesting idea.
My initial challenges & how I overcame them
As I'm a writer and consultant, the blogging part was easy. The tech-guy in me had a lot fun on the blockchain stuff but OMG - this was not easy to understand at the first time. But with a bit of database know how and after a lot of reading, chatting and more reading the steem stuff got way more clear and logical.
My Steem blockchain knowledge
As I just said, I love learning new things and find my way of using this. We all have to stay with "Life long learning" and therefore you can spend some time with steem.
Learning is king
It is my idea, to do more on steem as I really enjoy that "being a free speech heaven" concept.
As one of my outcomes from learning, I started the #BeerSaturday challenge way back in 2017.
Join the latest week 141 here https://steemit.com/hive-187719/@detlev/beersaturday-week-141
With this activity I like to help people with some prizes to create more valuable content while as well having some fun. Writing about BEER - the third most drunken liquid on earth -
I accidentally created a worldwide community of BeerLovers which now has as well a real community here on steem at https://steemit.com/trending/hive-187719
Giving back the learnings
Since this community is so awesome, I decided to give back a lot of my learnings and even more - a lot of the fun to that community. With this in mind, they got me on the stage at SteemFest 2 in Lisbon, where I was talking about the #BeerSaturday challenge and the idea behind all this. As the people liked it, we did a pub crawl the evening after the speech which was due an idea of
More shared knowledge
The steem community loved this and we did the same at SteemFest 3 in Krakow and as well at SteemFest 4 in Bangkok where I have to send a big pack of Love to
We do the same knowledge sharing with all the #SteemMeetupAachen events that we host in Aachen where the exchange of knowledge compared with some good food and a few beer.
The last invitation to the #SteemMeetupAachen 8 is here https://steemit.com/meetup/@detlev/steemmeetupaachen8-join-a-huge-european-group
We love GooglyEyes 👀
There is a lovely challenge ongoing, where I joined a few time. Today my friend

Steem Training
You never know where you end up, whenever you start something you like. As I like to explain things on stage and all the Steem stuff, the German Blockchain Institute was calling and asked me to do a #SteemTraining in Stuttgart Germany. So, I couldn't resist and started to collect a lot of infos into a huge powerpoint, as they like to have thin running for aroun 3 hours.
To make a long story short, here are the first two videos from this evening in January 2020 Steem Training ONE - Das erste Video mit Intro und 3Speak and another one with Steem Training TWO mit TravelFeed und mehr Steem Infos.
If you like to have more Trainings like this in Germany or somewhere else, just connect with me and we will work something out. Means I like to help you with me slides or even show up at you place.
My Steem favourites
Let's split this into a few sections.
Steem software
Sure, I love to work with SteemPeak as this is so much more intuitive and even more powerful to work with. All the templates and snippets and tools and and and - you have to give it a try. But there is more, I as well love the SteemWorld where you see so much statistics from your account.
Beneath this the different games like #steemcity #splinterlands and the upcomming #BEERpong are my favs
Steemians
Oh, damn - this should be a long long list and I have no clue where to start.
Sure there are Steemians like #buzzbeergeek
My golden nugget advice
Like in real life and as seen on my beloved island "Caye Caulker" in Belize.
