According to Globalstats, 10.6% of desktop users used Edge as their default browser in 2022. This meant that Microsoft was only beaten by Google Chrome, which has a share of 66.9% and is in a league of its own. Competitors such as Safari and Firefox were left behind.

How to revert to the default browser
If you use Outlook as part of Microsoft 365 and have set a default browser other than Microsoft Edge, Outlook may have recently surprised you with unusual behavior:
Links that you click on in Outlook no longer open as usual in the default browser, for example Chrome or Firefox. Instead, Edge starts.
Click on "File" at the top left, select "Options", then "Advanced". Here you will find the menu item "Open links from Outlook in...". Change the selection from "Edge" back to "Default browser" and confirm with "OK". Outlook will now use your default web browser again instead of Edge. It is not necessary to restart the program.
