I took a lot of time taking pictures of this "weed" and noticed it looked like a whole lot of different plants. Below, find my research and the rules of this post.

First lets do research.

PLANT BASICS

This plant has been cultivated for thousands of years. It has long since been forgotten, and I can't tell you why. I used to pick at it when I lived in Upstate NY while hiking. It has a peppery flavor and is perfect in stews and on a sandwich, instead of the iceberg lettuce, that is devoid of so many nutrients.

It has more vitamin C than your fresh picked oranges, more folate than bananas, more iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk.

It is considered a vegetable. It is considered a part of the Brassicaceae family. Grows mostly in the wild, loves cool to cold weather.

INVASIVENESS AND USES

Easily controllable not invasive.

It's uses are beyond noteworthy. Since it is essentially a wild green, it should be harvested wisely. I use the 1/3 rule, 1/3 for me, 1/3 for animals, and 1/3 for reestablishment. Below is a list of the uses that have been recorded. I will post my citing, in the comments, after the contest is over.

It is eaten as trail nibble, in sandwiches, in smoothies, as a garnish, in stews and soups, in salads and as a meal in itself.

One cup contains 100% of the Daily Recommended Value of vitamin K.
