It is almost here!

My wife and I are getting so excited. 30 days until we board a plane for Thailand. We have been talking about going to Thailand for a couple years now and when I saw that Steemfest was going to be held there this year, I knew that this was our chance to go.

There is so much that we are planning on doing there and I hope that two weeks is going to be enough time for us. Bangkok is a city that never sleeps and I think we are going to try and stay up as much as we can so we can soak up as much of the city as we can while we are there.

I have already talked about how excited we are about the amazing food that we get to eat while we are there, but one of the things that I am really excited about it durian. We don't have this fruit here in the US and I have only heard stories about it. It doesn't have the most pleasant smell to it. I looked up what it smells like and it is described as:

its odor is best described as pig-shit, turpentine and onions, garnished with a gym sock.source

Sounds delicious. I can't wait to taste it. Even though it smells horrible, it is supposed to be one of the most delicious fruits out there.

One of the things I told my wife that I wanted to do while we are there is to hold a monkey. I have never held one in my life, so I am hoping to go somewhere that has some monkeys so I can pick one up. I just have to make sure that I don't have anything that it can steal and run off with. I have seen too many videos of tourists getting cameras stolen or their bags getting opened by other monkeys while they are distracted. I am going to have to pay attention around these little guys.

Another thing my wife and I have been talking about is going to an elephant sanctuary while we are there and spending the day helping out around the sanctuary. We aren't fans of how a lot of the elephants in these countries are treated with the tourism, so we really appreciate the facilities like the sanctuaries that take in elephants and do what they can to take care of them after they have been abused.

And then there is the shopping. We will be doing lots of shopping. We have been reading that it is best to bring as little as you can to Thailand if you are expecting to do any shopping so that you have room for everything on the way home. I think we are going to bring maybe two or three pairs of clothes and then buy everything else there.

Our kids are pretty excited about all of the different clothing brands that we will be able to get while we are there for a fraction of the cost that they are here. Sure, they are knock-offs, but you can get some pretty legit knock-offs if you pay a couple bucks more than the super cheap stuff.

We are getting more and more excited about this trip the more we start planning our days out. It is going to be such a great time. It is going to be awesome to see familiar faces from last year and to meet new Steemians as well.

I am just glad that my wife is able to come with me this year so she can experience how awesome Steemfest is. I am looking forward to hearing about all of the new great things that we have happening here on the blockchain. We have an awesome lineup of speakers planned for this year.
