The WMC has been asked to play at the Taste of Wicklow festival on the 11th and 12th, and we are currently working through some last-minute preparations for it.
Today, the times for each band were announced, and as it stands, the gates are 3 (it could be earlier, though) and the first band is on at 3:20. Every band gets 30 minutes with a 10-minute changeover, and we have been given the headline slot for Saturday.
To be honest, I was kind of hoping for a slot in the middle/ end, so we could come off the stage and enjoy the rest of the night and bands.
Playing last means we'll have to keep our wits about us and watch that we don't overdo the drinks during the day.
It's going to be a really fun day, and since it's a food festival, we'll have plenty to eat, so that should provide us with plenty of soakage.
Documentary
The crew and I will get there much earlier and have been given access prior to the official opening, so we can get inside and film the crew working.
Also, the earlier time gives us a chance to do a bit of reci and find places to put our camera equipment.
As well as the documentary, I am going to be filming the entire day of music and bands, so it's important that I get on the stage before anyone arrives so I can set up the cameras and find the best shots I can get.
More importantly, I will need to run extension leads so I can plug the cameras in at some point during the gig.
The Mevo Start cameras have a 4-6 hour battery life, but I'd be better off plugging them in after about 3 hours, just to make sure they don't die.
The SD cards last for about 14 hours of filming, so there are no worries regarding space.
Right now, we're finishing any last-minute considerations and checking over all of the equipment.
We're providing the backline, 2 half-stacks for the guitar, and a full stack for the bass.
It is going to be fun; we just need to make sure the two days run smoothly, because this can and will lead to much bigger things in the future.
