This is a magical place, sacred to the Blackfeet.
The Two Medicine area, has something that you will feel almost immediately upon entering it. I cannot describe to you what you will feel - awe, power, mystery, intrigue, a deep connection to the elements perhaps.
It has a chaotic rhythm of peace and tempest. It can be calm and still, with water like glass, and warm glowing light emanating from the cliff faces of surrounding peaks, or it can be a hellacious maelstrom of wind, rain, sleet or snow. Waves can rise from the lake, foaming and ripping towards the shore punching any in their way. Clouds march without warning and roll over the distant divide, ushering in darkness and thunder.
In the summer, the valley abounds with fresh berries, wildlife, flowers and cold, clear streams of snowmelt cutting like ribbons through alpine green meadows. Moose tromp the ponds, bears forage the forests. Winter is often silent, shrouded in snow, wrapped in cold, quiet save for the crashing destruction of avalanches or the heaving, popping ice of the frozen lake.
Mountains routed out of ancient rock by powerful, slow, grinding Glaciers, stand guard - each named for various heroes important to the Native peoples who call this place home.
This is one of my favorite places on earth. This is "Two Med".
