Yes, indeed.
Before electronic "brains" we had to rely a lot more on our own imaginations and fantasy to entertain ourselves. We moved so much and so often that I rarely made friends where we were, so my entertainment often had so come from within.
Unlike many, I withstood the temptation to gradually have my brains sucked out my ears at the hands of mindless television and video games. In many ways, I am very grateful for that.
When he had the time, my dad made up and told stories, he didn't read stories.
