I can appreciate that, living in the "deep freezer zone" of the US, as you do. Our corner of the northwest is definitely much milder; we don't really get protracted freezes in winter, just a long drag of grimy gray 35-degree days, typically from November to March. Today is actually a fairly typical summer day... clear skies and 74 degrees. We have lots of microclimates in this region... Seattle is far wetter than here by almost double; just 25 miles from here is a town in the rain shadow of the Olympic range that literally has a Mediterranean climate; go another 50 miles and you get to Forks, one of the wettest towns in the lower 48.

If I weren't here, I'd probably be in one of the high desert locations of the Southwest; New Mexico, Northern Arizona where it's sunny and warm, but the altitude shaves a good 15 degrees off the summer temps.

Texas is more bearable, the further west you get... away from the humid Gulf of Mexico air flow, from about San Angelo and west.
