I truly believe, the people that carry on most about "decentralization" don't really know what they're looking for.
That, right there, is often at the heart of my frustrations with "a certain demographic."
I'm not a native to the US, although I have lived here since 1981; I grew up in Denmark which to many Americans (Horrors!) means I must be a "socialist" (more horrors!).
In the past I have gone on lengthy rants (that typically fall on deaf ears) about so-called "patriotism," and "freedom" and "rights" people in the US embrace like a badge of honor. Most of the time, they have the feeling of wanting something without actually knowing what it is you want... pretty much what you're saying.
The funny thing is, being a Danish national and going back to spend 3-4 weeks with my family every couple of years, I see my native country from the inside... and Denmark's freedom happens organically while it's far more legislated and mandated in the US. But the thing that strikes me most is that in the course of moving around Denmark for 3-4 weeks we see maybe one or two police cars the entire time, and when we return to the US, we probably see a dozen in a single 90-minute drive back from SeaTac airport to our house. What does that say about "freedom?"
As you can tell... I'm at the edge of ranting already, so I'll stop here!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment @wwwiebe!
