Today I left the house because in our town, the patron saint is Saint Joseph of Paraguachi, and today is his feast day. One of the traditions of this day is to hold baptisms. We took the opportunity to baptize one of my nieces, and I was already her godmother. If you've been reading my posts, you'll know that I'm going through a grieving process, and leaving the house is something I often don't want to do. I think one of the places I might not want to visit is the church, and not for any bad reason, it's just that I remember the day of my mother's funeral, and it's quite difficult. But today I went to the church to baptize my niece, since we had postponed her baptism for quite some time.
I arrived at the church before my family, so I took the opportunity to snap some pictures. There were several people there, and I asked a boy to take a picture of me with Saint Joseph. While my mom was sick, I prayed to many saints to help her get better, and one of the things I said I would do was attend the Saint Joseph festivities. Maybe not everything went as planned, but today I kept my promise and went to Mass and gave thanks for everything. I prayed for strength and that I would be better by this time next year because, to be honest, I'm not doing well right now.
C贸mo he dicho antes, aqu铆 vamos un d铆a a la vez.
And I think today I finally decided to dress up a little more, even though I haven't been sleeping well for days and I've been crying a lot. But I think it's been maybe two months since I've taken a picture or been concerned with looking good in one. As I've said before, we're taking it one day at a time. And as I heard in a video, we can't die with our dead. We have to live and honor the lives of those who are no longer with us.
And finally my cousin and niece arrived and we took a picture before going into the church. This time my niece's father couldn't attend the baptism.
We took a picture of my niece with Saint Joseph, and we took a picture with her and her godparents. With so many things going on, we didn't take any pictures during the actual baptism!
After the baptisms were over, we took several photos with the rest of the family.
