Gold Foil Cards in Splinterlands
Gold Foil Cards are rarer versions of standard cards that offer additional benefits in-game and require fewer copies to level up. Their characteristics are detailed below:
Chance of Obtaining Gold Foil Cards
- All cards have a base 2% chance of appearing as Gold Foil when opening packs.
- Using an Alchemy Potion doubles this chance to 4%.
Benefits in Ranked Battles
Each Gold Foil Card grants a 10% bonus to Reward Shares (Rshares) upon winning.
This bonus is stackable up to a maximum of 70% if 7 Gold Foil Cards (1 Summoner and 6 Monsters) are used in the same battle.
Rshares are converted into rewards like Glint and SPS, the in-game currencies for ranked matches.
Special Tournaments and Guild Brawls
There are exclusive tournaments for Gold Foil cards, with fewer participants and bigger prizes.
In Guild Brawls, there are frays designed exclusively for these cards.
Lower BCX Requirement to Level Up
Gold Foil cards require less BCX to reach the maximum level, depending on their rarity. Additionally, they start at higher levels:
Common: 38 BCX for the maximum level (starts at Level 3).
- Rare: 22 BCX for the maximum level.
- Epic: 10 BCX for the maximum level.
- Legendary: 4 BCX for max level.
Card Circulation
Each card has a limited quantity, which does not increase once production ends.
Circulation can be reduced by combining cards to level up or by burning them.
- Example: Combining 20 Blackmoor Trickster cards removes 19 from circulation, leaving only 1 card worth 20 BCX.
Differences between Set Cards and Reward Cards
Set Cards:
They come from booster packs and their maximum quantity depends on the number of booster packs still unopened.
The exact supply of these cards is an estimate until all booster packs in a set are opened.
Reward Cards:
Older editions have limited and traceable print runs.
Current Soulbound cards have no defined limit, though restrictions may be placed on future sets.
Once a card ceases production, its circulation only decreases due to combinations or burns.
Gold Foil cards are valuable and strategic items within Splinterlands, providing advantages both in the gameplay and economic aspects of the ecosystem.
