Hello, Splinterlands warriors.
Another Brawl has come to an end. As usual, there were wins, there were losses, there were matches that made us feel like brilliant strategists, and there were also matches that made us wonder, “Was I actually building a team, or was I just donating a victory to my opponent?”
But that’s Brawl for you. We go through it together with our guild, collect the rewards, and then wait for one reward that always catches our attention: Merits.
After several previous Brawls, my Merits savings finally reached around 22,000 Merits.
That’s enough to make your hands start itching.
Usually, I open 10 Gladius Packs at once. But this time I thought, “Why not make it 11?”
Maybe it was because I had been saving Merits for too long. Or perhaps curiosity had simply become stronger than my desire to keep saving them.
In the end, I exchanged those 22,000 Merits for 11 Gladius Packs.
And as usual, I entered the most exciting—and nerve-racking—part: opening the packs.
I started opening the cards one by one.
At first, the results were pretty ordinary. Common and Rare cards began appearing. Eventually, one Epic showed up among them.
Not bad.
But of course, after opening eleven packs, I wasn't hoping for just an Epic.
I was waiting for something that would make the screen shake.
And apparently, the wait was worth it.
Suddenly, the card started shaking.
Now, if you've played Splinterlands for a while, you probably know what that means.
Legendary.
And sure enough, what appeared was Xulax Nightwind.
I was immediately excited.
Xulax Nightwind isn't just a great Legendary card to add to my collection; it also opens up new strategic possibilities for me. The more complete my Gladiator card collection becomes, the more options I’ll have when participating in future Brawls.
Before I could even finish celebrating, Quora Towershead appeared as well.
A card whose name is certainly familiar to many Splinterlands players.
There were also several other Rare and Epic cards included in the results. A few duplicate cards appeared too. Personally, I don't think duplicate cards should be taken lightly.
Because duplicate cards are what help you level up.
Sometimes, you don't need a new card. You simply need a few more copies of a card you already own so you can increase its level and unlock new abilities.
I thought the opening was already exciting enough after getting Xulax Nightwind, but apparently the Gladius Packs still had more surprises waiting for me.
A Gold Foil card appeared.
Katrelba Gobson.
A Gold Foil Common.
Of course, I was happy. There’s always something special about seeing a Gold Foil card appear on the screen. Besides making the collection look more impressive, cards like this make the entire opening feel much more special.
But apparently, that wasn't the end.
Near the end of the opening, another Gold Foil card appeared.
This time, it was Captain Katie.
And it didn't stop there. Helmet Kharafax also showed up to complete the results of this opening session.
So, to sum it up, those 11 Gladius Packs gave me a pretty interesting combination: Xulax Nightwind as the Legendary, Quora Towershead as the Epic, several Rare and Common cards, plus the surprise of Katrelba Gobson and Captain Katie in Gold Foil.
For a Gladius Pack opening, I’d say the results were enough to put a big smile on my face.
After seeing all the results, I feel that spending 22,000 Merits on 11 Gladius Packs was well worth it this time.
I got Xulax Nightwind, several Epic and Rare cards, plus two Gold Foil surprises: Katrelba Gobson and Captain Katie.
Now, my job goes back to what it was before.
Brawl again.
Collect Merits again.
Then wait until the number is high enough to open the next batch of packs.
That’s simply the life of a Splinterlands player. You’ve barely finished opening your rewards, and you’re already thinking about the next ones.
And maybe that’s exactly what keeps the game interesting.
For now, I’m happy with the results. Xulax Nightwind was the star of this opening, while the two Gold Foil cards were a bonus that made it even harder for me to stop hoping for more.
My next strategy is simple: keep participating in Brawls, collect Merits, and gradually use the rewards to strengthen my Gladiator collection.
Because if there’s one lesson I can take away from these 11 Gladius Packs, it would be this:
Don’t rush to chase perfection. Build your collection little by little. One day, a collection that once looked ordinary might turn into an army powerful enough to make your opponent think twice.
