So, tomorrow, Feb 26, 2018, McDonald's will officially roll out their reissue of the "Rick & Morty Szechuan Sauce" that caused so many problems back in October 2017. This time, McDonald's will be rolling out 20 million of the sauce cups, with different packaging, hoping to stave off riots and police intervention.
The question is, will it be enough?
According to Stasita.com, in 2016 there were 14,146 McDonald's restaurants in the U.S. and 1,450 In Canada. This brings the North american total to 15,596 restaurants.
Now, we simply divde 20 million by the number of restaurants to give the total availability.
That gives us a grand total of 1,282 packets per restaurant.
That sounds like a lot. BUT..........
if you consider the current population of the U.S., 323.1 million as of 2016, this means that there is a total supply of this sauce for roughly 16% of the U.S. This also could mean some area's getting less than their allotted amount due to high demand in higher traffic areas. Also, keep in mind that, according McDonald's own site, they serve 69 million people a DAY! Taking all this into account, it's possible there could be a lot of Rick & Morty fans left out in the cold.
In truth, I've only caught bits and pieces of the show myself. I do believe I'd probably like it if I could get to really watch it, but circumstances haven't permitted as yet. I do not know what to make of this phenomenon, other than to say, when people really like something, they tend to go all out with it.
I'd like your thoughts on the matter. And, hey, if you're in the market for a few of these "special sauces", I have been lucky enough to score a few before they are widely available. You can see my eBay listing here
note: I do not really expect ANYONE to buy these, but hey, can't hurt to try right? LoL
