Hi, my name is Deivis Rivas, im 20 years old and a few weeks ago I found out about the existence of this site called "Hive", so this is my introduction to the Community. I was born in Venezuela, Caracas, but i'm currently living in Argentina, CABA. I came to this country about four years ago, in june of 2017. We were in the middle of the winter season when I came, it was something that i've never experienced before, and that wasn`t the only thing that was gonna change in my life.
I've always wanted to study something related to the type of hard science, like chemistry or physics, but sadly in the school I used to study in Venezuela those subjects either didn`t have a teacher or the classes we had were extremely basic. Here in Argentina I had the opportunity to finish my high school years studying in a school where you can specialize in chemistry. I'm not gonna lie, the first year was tough it felt like I didnt belong there, but I was determined to prove to myself that I can do it, that with enough work I could overcome this landslide difference in knowledge that I had with everyone else aroundme, so I spent day and night studying nonstop. By the end of the year I felt like I was in a much better place, like all the hard work that I had put in gave its rewards.
Next year, 2019, I decided to join in the OAQ (Argentina Chemistry Olympiad). It was very time consuming taking both normal classes and olympiad classes, but it was the best decision that I could've ever taken. The time I spent studying with friends and the challenges that I overcame were invaluable, I learned more things in that year alone than I ever did in my whole life. I even got to travel to Cordoba and take the final test there, and by the end of it I was rewarded with a silver medal. The next year we were supposed to take a series of test to see who qualifys for the IChO (International Chemistry Olympiad), but we all know what happened in 2020.
Right now i'm doing my first year of university on a chemistry degree. I'm very passionate about this subject and hope that im lucky enough to be working in something related to that in a few years. As for now, I'll be sharing with you interesting stuff that I get to see through my chemistry career, and also my thoughts on stuff I watch and play with friends in my free time (which sadly isn't much).
