A man would certainly have to have a fit body before I'd even give him a second glance. A handsome face, not so much. I mean you don't want your man to be too attractive to other females, now do you? 'There’s good goods in plain packaging’ my mother used to say and after all, good looks are a happy accident while a fit body is entirely by design and demonstrates self-discipline and determination, two attributes that every self-respecting man should possess.
I like a man to be a man and in my book, men are fit and able. No man-boobs, no paunches, no flabby bits. Now I’m not talking muscle-bound creep here, more your Jean-Claude Van Damme (anyone remember him?) than your Arnold Schwarzenegger. Fit enough to be useful around the house but not so into it that he spends more time admiring himself than he does you.
A fit, lean physique is, I believe, a prerequisite for a useful man, and what right-thinking woman doesn't want a handy man? A man for whom squeezing into small spaces such as under the sink to unblock the u-bend is a cinch, something a more corpulent specimen might find problematic. A man who can literally run errands with no huffing, puffing, or wobbling.
Now before all you eligible gentlemen start forming a queue, I must confess to being way past my prime. But age is no bar to a strong, fit body. I’ve been engaged in physical fitness of some kind or other since I was a wee child, so I’m a game old bird who could still knock out 50 pushups... if the alternative was execution.
While I would love to have included some surreptitiously-snapped shots of fit/muscled/athletic-bodied males I couldn't find a single one on my weekend meanderings, though I looked for @blanchy all over Clonmel.
Above is a photo of my gym instead.

Posted in response to @galenkp's weekend experience challenge which asks if a man needs to have a fit/muscled/athletic body and a handsome face to be attractive to you?
The images are, very obviously, my own.
