The 26th week has just ended and this time we are going to the 3rd edition this week. There are many exciting contest titles in this 26th week and many participants who take part in the 26th week's contest by giving their best contestant posts. The third edition in this 26th week, we will discuss something that we don't do while it is done by many people and is considered normal. In fact, many people experience this kind of thing, including me. I also experienced the same thing, where I have something that I have never done, but is often done by the people around me and to me it feels strange even though for other people, it is a natural and normal thing.
Therefore, I'm going to tell him a little about the thing I didn't do, so, listen carefully.
Difference is something that must exist in every human being. It is a provision or something that has been attached to humans and because of it, we know that no human being is perfect. Differences can be both good and bad, but differences in good things are a gift, and differences in bad things should be changed if possible. Sometimes bullying occurs because of this difference, usually occurs in school, work, or in public places, and because of this we must respect every difference that exists in someone. The differences that often become bullies are in terms of race, status, and also wealth. Indeed, this is the basis for someone to insult and vilify others and because of this, a lot of self-confidence arises and makes a person not want to associate because of it.
However, there are also differences in matters relating to the nature of a person, which in this case we have to be very respectful because there may be a separate reason behind this difference. Even so, differences in humans still exist, at least differences in family tree or something, which makes us as individuals still have differences with others.
Talking about the different traits that exist in humans, we see a lot of people with slightly strange traits and behaviors and I think we think it's weird because the things they do are different from our daily habits and this often happens and we often feel.
I myself have traits or differences that really bother me, this difference is due to my nature as an introvert and I really realize this difference when I hang out with people around me.
Incidentally when I was a child, I suffered from Glossophobia, which is an excessive feeling of panic when I want to convey or speak in front of a crowd. I can't speak in front of people who purposely stand in front of me, looking at me expressionlessly, while waiting for the words to come out of my mouth. At first this phobia really bothered me when presenting in front of the class, speaking in public filled with people I know. Because I have glossophobia, I tend to be a very quiet person and I rarely greet people around me because of that. And the strangest thing is, I find it very difficult to determine and get a topic when I open a conversation spontaneously with people I don't know or meet for the first time. This is certainly different from my friends who are very fluent in speaking and can talk spontaneously to people they don't know. When I was little, I didn't realize this because as a child, we rarely hung out with strangers and only hung out with my friends. However, as I grew up, I found myself having a very difficult time communicating with the people around me even on the topic of self-introductions and such, which I always avoided in various ways so that I wouldn't look awkward.
In Indonesia, everyone looks friendly, and if someone is as quiet as me it will look very strange. This is what makes me a little burdened, which for Indonesians to talk and open up conversations is something that must be done anywhere. I myself always avoid this by just smiling and immediately turning my face away, because of that, I am sometimes considered arrogant and unfriendly, and many people around me avoid me because of it. For someone like me, talking and opening a chat is a very difficult thing to do, even I have to think about it before I say a few words to open a chat. This phobia really bothered me when I was in high school, which for someone like me if I suddenly opened up a conversation I would feel strange and people who used to see me silent would immediately be shocked. I feel that things that are common and become a habit for Indonesians, such as casually chatting and greeting by chatting, are foreign to me. I only talk to strangers when I have important things to say and this really makes me look very arrogant, and even I was avoided by my own friends if he was alone with me, even though he was a talkative person, he would silent when he was with me and he couldn't say anything because he saw my cold response.
But as time goes by, I get used to changing it, and practice to talk casually with people I just met, even though it looks very awkward at first, I still push it. And as you know, being forced is very awkward and very different from what we're used to. As long as I haven't dared to speak and chat casually with strangers like now, I used to use my friends to open the conversation and I would enter in the middle of their conversation, and that was the best tactic I ever did. And now I realize, I can't always rely on the people around me for that and like it or not, I have to do it myself, and luckily you've started to get used to this.
This is my story about things I didn't do and were foreign to me, while they were very common in my place. Hopefully this will be a valuable lesson for you, thank you, and see you in another post.
