In most cases, when children or adolescents are exposed to environments of constant violence at home, it will always be a repeated behavior at school, since violence is not natural, but is learned and the first learning space and interaction for the child or adolescent is the family.

If conflicts in the family are resolved violently, children and adolescents will implement that way of relating in their immediate environment. In certain cases the origin of the violence may lie in the absence of a father or in the presence of a violent one. This situation can generate aggressive behavior in children and lead them to violence when they are adolescents. In addition to that, marital tensions, the socioeconomic situation or poor organization at home can also contribute to children having aggressive behavior.

School bullying resides in the educational models to which children or adolescents are subjected at home, whether in the absence of values, rules of coexistence and limits, they learn punishments through violence or intimidation and that is when they learn to solve problems and difficulties with violence. When talking about violence, we always talk about dynamics that involve power because, in this case, the child or adolescent who attacks does not do it with just anyone, but with someone he considers or perceives as weaker and always does so in the presence of third parties who legitimize the action with silence, laughter or even not intervening for fear of being the next victims.

Harassment occurs when there are hits or pushes, but also in the face of name calling, verbal threats, teasing or exclusion. All this can end up affecting the victim both physically and emotionally. However, it is also important to put yourself in the place of the aggressor to discover the reason for that aggressive attitude.

The omission also plays an important role, that is, when the teacher is not trained and does not know how to identify or how to deal with this type of situation or because they normalize certain forms of violence with the idea that they are “boys' things”. Another factor that promotes bullying is the non-assertive intervention, a child tells the teacher or parent that he is being violated, the adult intervenes and exposes him to being singled out by the aggressor as an informer and is getting him into trouble.

You can fall into re-victimization because in general the aggressors take action against the informer when they feel exposed if there are no adequate measures to avoid the repetition of the facts. Anything can be teased or discriminated against, bullying is seen as early as preschool and as late as college. There are periods that are especially sensitive to bullying, and one of them is entering adolescence. It is a critical time because there is a set of physical and emotional changes that naturally shame the adolescent.

All parents worry that their son or daughter may be the victim of bullying. Observation and communication are two of the keys to realizing as soon as possible that something is happening in the child's environment. Even if your son or daughter is not being the victim, but a witness of aggression towards another classmate, it is important to talk about the bullying, since it could help another child to get out of this situation.
