Before the final exam of my TLE 10 class, I always require them to have their culmination activity. The activity is part of showcasing the knowledge and skills they have learned throughout the year. Since my TLE 10 specialized in household services, they must perform cooking or food preparation, table setting, napkin folding, centerpiece, table service, and fine dining. So, in this blog, I would like to share the performance of my Grade 10 Household Services, even though we don't have a shop room anymore and don't have enough facilities.
Before their performances, I grouped the learners into 5 groups. I assigned each group the type of occasion they were going to prepare. The preparation started from planning the occasion, various menus, selecting the type of table service, table setting, and fine dining. They also designed or made some decorations appropriate for the type of occasion assigned. Their performance was graded using rubrics, and I assigned some of my co-teachers as raters.
Despite the limited facilities, the class was able to showcase their talent well, from cooking to fine dining. They did their best so that they could receive high grades. My co-teachers, who were the raters, had a wonderful time with my Grade 10 class and enjoyed tasting the food.
I am proud of my class because they were able to perform the task even though we don't have a shop room anymore and very limited facilities. Their performance shows that they learned something from my class. So congratulations, and may God bless them all.
