Sept. 29, 21: Routine. Teaching, More Triangular Proofs, Oculus, and Games
[Another early teaching day today. Got started kind of late again, trying to get as much done as I can before I need to get ready to go.]
In the afternoon I spent some time thinking about triangular numbers again…looking at the proof about prime rectangles I thought of yesterday. I was able to show that even though there are infinitely many triangular numbers that are also squares, none of them are the square of a prime.
I found the criterion for a triangular number to be a prime rectangle and 2*3 = 6 does fit, but still not sure if that’s the only pair or not. 🤓
Kinda’ wondering to myself why I’m using mental energy on these proofs…probably already done and not all that insightful anyway. Still, there is that element of asking a question (challenge) and trying to answer it for yourself…answering the question is somewhat satisfying in itself.
Other than that, I wasn’t really motivated to attempt to do much, so played a few rounds of Beat Saber and then played through a couple new puzzles 🧩 on Puzzling Places. (Opposite ends of the activity spectrum there!)
If it’s not random shittiness, it some other reason, no? Bank robbery today in dShitty…such a friggin’ annoyance.
Went in once on CryptoBrewmaster today. Collected the ingredient I started a couple days ago and started another. Still need several more ingredients before I can start a brew…at this pace, another week or so.
Mostly just did lessons today trying to get my Ego back under control. It’s still kind of higher than I’d like it to be, but switched back to one mission overnight to get some Starbits. Not quite an afterthought yet, but becoming moreso by the day.
Today was the last day of the Splinterlands season and so, of course, there wasn’t any way I was going to play today come hell or high water.
It did feel a little weird not to play in the evening as I usually do. I even got the “need to play Splinterlands” urge, but quashed that right quick.
SPS has been rising in price quite well lately. Thinking it might be time to draw a little HIVE off. 🤔
