This is my entry for the Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 54! The theme for this round is "Bird With Fish" which was suggested by @lifeskills-tv . You can learn more about the contest and how to enter HERE!
I took these photos during a visit to the Conowingo Dam area in Harford County, Maryland. I spotted a few Cormorants in the water and tried to capture some photos of them.
They were pretty far away and if I had a steadier hand then perhaps my photos would be a little better but it is what it is. You can tell though that it was indeed a fish in its beak. It wasn't easy trying to catch one on camera and just when I got it focused (or mostly focused) the bird would dive under water. I have almost never caught one coming up either. As a matter of fact, that wasn't the only Cormorant that had luck fishing while I was watching them. They all seemed to be catching fish of different sizes.
It's not unusual to see many different kinds of birds in the Conowingo Dam area. Including these Cormorants, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons and more. I know that there are fish, clams, snakes and other goodies that the birds feast on while there. I think that if I were a bird then that is where I would definitely want to make my nest! 馃挅
