You may know the November full moon as the Beaver Moon. I know it as the Beaver Moon or the Frost Moon but there are other names for it as well.

I think most moon names are fairly self explanatory but the Beaver Moon is called such because it is usually the time that beavers become more active in building their dams for the Winter. The beaver is a nocturnal animal and will continue working on their Winter dams under the full moon. Honestly, I think they would be working with or without the light of the full moon and I can't say for sure but it does make for a nice explanation. They also wouldn't have had much if any light from this particular moon due to all the clouds as well.

I started snapping photos of this moon at approximately 6:18 pm Eastern Time on 11-29-2020. Technically, the full moon for November would be approximately 10 hours and 15 minutes from the time that I snapped my first photo though.

I would say that time wise it is a matter of "splitting hairs" so to speak and if I had waited much longer then the moon would have been completely hidden by the incoming clouds. That is why I went out when I did because the view was already becoming obscured by the clouds but not yet completely hidden.

From my yard, the moon first showed up behind the trees across the street but sometimes the trees in some shots makes for some nice photos anyway.

I waited an hour and got a view without the trees but I also had more clouds but like the trees, some clouds can make for some different and nice looking photos also.

The next full moon will be on December 29th and it is called the Cold Moon and I expect it to fully live up to its name ... lol. Hopefully, if it's not too cold, then I'll put a coat on, brave the cold and capture a few shots of that one too. This is the last photo that I took of the cloudy moon on November 29th and it may not have been the Cold Moon but it was sure feeling like it! 🙂
