Funny that you mention this. I have seen the back operations of one casino in Honduras and I would say it is both of these things. I have seen a guy walk in with a bag of money (literally a bag of cash) and spends it all with no remorse at all. Then I have another dude, just win 3 times in a row in the same week.
The way casinos work in Honduras, it allows for a functional money laundering scheme. That is what I though when I saw that, they MUST be laundering cash.

Then again, I think that professional casinos, do use certain algorithms. Mainly that they only pay out a small portion of the total earnings of the casino. Either way, the house always wins.
