‎The truth is, if you haven't been in a situation where you have had to lose things because of financial constraints, you will not understand the importance of financial security.
‎When you have money, your passion becomes fun and not the weapon fashioned against you.
‎Passion should be something that you find happiness and fulfillment in, not a trap to keep you poor and financially unstable.
‎
‎If I had to choose between a well-paying job that I dislike and a low-paying job that I like, I would most likely choose a well-paying job that I dislike no matter how tough it gets, in as much as I'm well paid, I don't mind. I would get the well- paying job because I would not be happy with a low-paying job no matter how much I loved it.
‎
‎About a year ago, the branch office I had been working was shut down and I was asked to resume at the headquarters, it was difficult because I couldn't get an accommodation close the head office. It took me a month to search for accommodation but couldn't find any, so, the only option that was left was to resign because the company didn't accept my idea of working hybrid—two days at the office and three from home. I was frustrated because getting a job like that was not easy as at the time. Eventually, I resigned and started job hunting again. I got a job I liked at an Eye Clinic, I was okay with the space, but one thing was missing, I wasn't at peace with myself because I wasn't getting enough money to cater to my needs let alone even be enough for savings and transportation.
‎
‎I stopped the job not because I didn't like it but it was going to strangle me if I continued. I barely fed well, struggled to get to work everyday as the distance was long and the transportation fare was on the high side coupled with Lagos traffic. It wasn't worth it, it was stressful and the low pay made it worse, so, I stopped. and even when I stopped I wasn't okay with myself but I had to, and that was the best choice even though it seemed I was fair to myself but a part of me was suffering.
‎
‎I will conclude by saying: sometimes, we don't have to punish ourselves because of the things we love, we just have to be fair to ourselves, keep emotions aside, and face reality. Because the choices we make today determines tomorrow's outcome.
‎Also, we should always weigh our options, consider the pros and cons before making a decision. Let it not be that the very thing we're supposed to enjoy, is the same thing that keeps us in bondage.
‎For me, passion can wait! Money comes first.
