I want to wish my Steemit friends a Happy Holiday season no matter what you celebrate.
I am happy that I followed @old-guy-photos over here to Steemit because he lead me to a wonderful community of people. Some of you, I know from around Steemit and others are part of the
@steemusa group I belong to. Either way, I feel lucky to have meet those of you I am getting to know better.
I plan to be around as much as I can over the next few days. But, as most of you can probably relate, I have a ton of stuff to do. Here it is around 7:00 AM Saturday morning and I sit on Steemit like I do not have a care in the world. Ha!
I just barley got my menu completed. Hubby has some last minute shopping to get done today. He will be picking up the last few items we need for our holiday menu while he is out.
I'd love to hear the menu you have planned? Even if you are just contributing to a bigger meal. We use to do pitch ins when I was growing up and you get the best food that way.
I host Christmas dinner every year. I always cook a Turkey and a Ham. I decided not to go with a spiral cut ham this year because they come out too dry for my taste. Instead I went with a shank portion ham. I'll be making my own brown sugar honey glaze for it too.
Our sides will be Party Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Mac and Cheese (Hubby loves to make this himself), and deviled eggs. My sister usually brings a green bean dish.
What's for dessert you ask? We are going to have that one covered too. Peanut-butter cookies all decorated with Christmas sprinkles, Chocolate pie and Cute little Oreo snowmen heads are all on the menu.
What are these snowmen heads I speak of? We've never made them but I try to pick some new cute Christmas themed treat for us to make each year. I get my adult children involved in the process. We have fun doing them Christmas Morning while the meats cook.
I got the idea for the snowmen heads on Facebook. From this video. The photo below is also credited to the girl that made the video.
I hope ours come out half as cute but we'll have fun making them either way. :D Below are a few pictures of Christmas past projects we have made.
This is our 1st Christmas without my mom but I know she will be with us in spirit. Honestly, her loss is still so fresh, I have tried to stay busy and not think about it much. Sometimes that works out better for me than others but I know she'd want us to be happy and celebrate together.
I have more deep cleaning, food prep and all of my gift wrapping to do yet so I best get my rear moving. I hope you all have fun with your family and friends over the next few days!!
