It was my best friend’s birthday week and we were already planning a get together for her as she was in school, so I was meant to travel that week, as the day was fast approaching something truck me and I felt like I shouldn’t go again.
But it was my bestie’s birthday and I couldn’t miss it for anything, even if I wanted to she would definitely kill me and wouldn’t talk to me again she said if I tried missing out. I didn’t have any choice because it was my best girl’s birthday.
So I decided to go drink shopping just to surprise her, I bought some few wines and drinks and I also contacted someone to make a glass frame of her picture, everything was perfect she would definitely love this, I decided to go a day before her birthday so that I wouldn’t miss anything.
I left home in the evening as the city that she schools wasn’t really far from mine, When I got to bus station, there were no buses available but I bought the bus ticket regardless and waited patiently for the bus to arrive, the bus finally arrived but I wasn’t comfortable with the way the driver was looking.
The driver was smelling of alcohol when he arrived but I couldn’t wait for another bus as it was already getting late, I decided to just trust the process, and prayed that nothing happened on the way.
Our journey started, five minutes into the journey, the driver had already started quarreling with some passengers because they complained that he was driving extremely fast, they kept on arguing for minutes, finally the driver accepted defeat he then started to drive very sluggishly just like a moving snail.
Some passengers again decided started to tell him that he should add a little speed because the road wasn’t safe, this man started firing the bus and next the thing we heard was a loud sound coming from under the bus, it was tyre!
One of the tyres got punctured, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I didn’t know if I should cry or if I should laugh.
It was getting really late, we all had to get down from the bus so that the driver and some guys would fix the extra tyre, while they were on it, suddenly it began to rain, oh my Goodness!
I should’ve listened to my instinct and shouldn’t have embarked on this journey I said to myself, it rained heavily I was drenched with water as we were on the expressway and there was no nearby shade that we could even hide under.
To top it all, while we standing under the heavy rain, a car from nowhere that was coming with a really high speed splashed a very dirty water on my white jean trousers, I couldn’t cry or laugh, my facial expression was just in the middle, I got really angry at myself for traveling.
Finally they fixed the tyre and I arrived at my destination looking like someone who has ran mad, my friend and her partner was so shocked to see me drenched with water, my hair was scattered, my shoes were stained with dirty water, my friend couldn’t help but started laughing the minute she saw me as she was always the one to joke around.
But she had an amazing birthday party, we all had fun at the end!
