Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today let's go into another Three Tune Tuesday post.

Today I have another mix of different genres. Trying to keep switching things up to stay interesting.

Klaatu - Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary Craft

Klaatu was an early prog rock group from Canada. If you've heard of them at all, it may be as the "Canadian Beatles", as many of their songs had a Beatles feel and they were even thought to be the Beatles secretly reunited for awhile after their first album was released, a fact that their label played up to increase record sales. This was from their first album, 3:47 EST. It's a great little tune.

Lou Reed - Perfect Day

Unlike Klaatu, I don't think Lou Reed would be confused for the Beatles, though he could be quite similar to some of John Lennon's more dark and satirical songs. I suppose his most popular song may be Walk on the Wild Side, kind of an ode to the New York underbelly that once existed when the city was more unique. Instead of that one, I'm going to go with this, which is also pretty great.

Stealers Wheel - Stuck in the Middle With You

When I hear Perfect Day my mind almost automatically follows it up with this one. I suppose I must have heard the combination on the radio often enough that my mind thinks it's the proper song order. Unlike the Beatles connections I gave the first two songs (tedious in the case of the second one), this one has a Bob Dylan connection. It was written as a parody of Dylan, poking fun at him. It sounds like him, it's written in his style, it even uses joker and clown which are (or were) his two biggest insult words for people. Stealers Wheel did such a good job that many many people think this is a Dylan song and it is often misattributed to him. Anyway, it's catchy and fun. Have a listen.
