My Actifit RC: June 4th 23 - Alive in Naples's sightseeing 8th stage - IAAC #365
A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.
The first Sunday in June was perhaps the first day without the threat of spring rain. The heat begins to make its way into the heart of the Mediterranean.
After taking the Metro 2 and getting off at the station of Montesanto I arrived on a Via Toledo that was already full of tourists and I went to visit Piazza Dante, where our poet seemed not to feel the beating sun on his head.
Destination of my stage was the national archaeological museum of Naples or the M.A.N.N. where there was a long line to enter and I had to wait patiently under the sun. After all, Dante said nothing and gave me the good example.
The Farnese collection inherited from Charles of Bourbon was indeed one of the most incredible legacies in history and the Capodimonte museum was not enough to show all the works of the Spanish sovereign. The rest here are exposed only 1/3 of the remaining collection the other 2/3 are kept in stock.
On the ground floor there is a vast collection of Greek Roman statues, the result of excavations or in historical monuments. In the picture we have Solo with the struggle Lira of the second century after Christ.
Here I found the famous statue of Serapide found in the homonymous temple in Pozzuoli near the port of the city of which I wrote a long time in a couple of Actifit report last year.
After a long visit I went up to the second floor from which I took a picture of the colossal statue of Ferdinand I of Bourbon that is located on the first floor of the building. As you can see from the immense staircase this is not only a cultural visit but also a great physical test.
The large main hall of the floor service contains the most valuable pieces of the Farnese collection and is also beautifully designed with frescoes of fine workmanship that are already a sight to see.
At the center of the hall the most valuable piece of the collection the mythological Farnese cup belonged to the equally mythological Egyptian queen Cleopatra dated 45 BC. It is made of sardonic agate and on the bottom has a representation of Medusa. A work of magical light that leaves you breathless and makes you lose the sense of time in observing it for a long time.
Another highlight is the case of Darius found in the crater of Canosa belonging to the Macedonian te dated 331 BC.
In the large interior hall there was a large collection of armor belonging to Roman gladiators where English and American tourists were particularly interested. In fact it is really rare to see such a large number of Eni
Helmets of intact Roman stadium warriors.
After a short visit to the secret rooms of the first floor, I went down to the basement of the museum that houses the Egyptian collection of Farnese with a wide range of mummies and sarcophagi dated 1600 years before Christ.
There was a room containing the Uscebti statues that belonged to the Egyptian builders who were a venerated figure at the time of the enlightened Egyptian dynasties. And to think that the masons are no longer so appreciated nowadays. The statues here exhibited are from 1060 BC.
In the basement there were also beautiful murals of Pompeian origins from 50 after Christ.
Moreover, drawing on the walls has a very ancient origin in time even if it seems a modern thing.
After a quick rest in the beautiful interior gardens of the cloister I ended my long journey through time and months in motion my creativity imagining to go back in time of the Egyptians to make me explain their amazing secrets that were lost in the destruction of this futuristic dynasty author of portentous constructions of which we still have to understand the execution.
After many hours, at the exit, I find myself in front of me the same family after which I entered early in the morning. Sometimes the coincidences of life are incredible. There were between them two ladies in red dress obviously it was not possible to be wrong and mindful of the incredible scene of the movie Matrix I quickly changed direction.
As you can see from the photo the dimensions of the building are huge and do not fit in the picture at all.
I almost forgot to celebrate my #iamalivechallenge 365 so I took it upon myself to describe the wonders contained in this #alive container of historical archaeological works.
Finally, I would like to thank all my friends from the tribe of #Alive and all the new friends who happened between the lines of my stories for reading my thoughts and see you at the next #actifit report.
