Good evening dear hivians from LOH community.

Firstly, let me remind us that temperature is the degree of hotness or coldness of a place, and it's measured using thermometer.

Temperate parts of the world talk about spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Four beautiful seasons.

But here where I live, we have our own seasons. We have the rainy season, the dry season, the Harmattan, and then, that season that makes me want to disappear.

The season of extreme heat.

For many people, it's just hot weather, but for me, it is a battle. A real battle oh.
This is because I am allergic to heat.

Why extreme heat is my most difficult season.

When the extreme heat season comes, my body reacts before the thermometer even rises. My skin begins to itch. Small rashes appear on my neck, my chest, my back. I feel like ants are crawling all over me. This is heat allergy, or what doctors call heat urticaria. That is the name that one doctor told me in one of the teaching hospitals.

I become restless.
I can't sleep well at night.
I can't concentrate in the day.
If I stay under the sun for 10 minutes to work on my farm, I will scratch myself for the next 2 hours.

The worst part is that it affects my mood and I become easily irritated.
I don't want to talk, rather I just want to be alone in a cool place.

As a teacher, teaching in a hot classroom during this season is a hell for me. Farming under the scorching sun is double hell, but I have to do it.
Remember that there is no food for a lazy man.

This is how I make it bearable.

Over the years, I have learned to survive my enemy season.

Firstly, my fan is my best friend.
I cannot stay in a place without a steady fan or air conditioner. And if light goes off, I look for where there is breeze.
Even my wife knows, if she want me to be happy during heat season, just put on the fan.

Secondly, I bathe like a fish.
During this season, I can bathe 4 to 5 times a day. Morning, afternoon, evening, before sleep.
Cold water calms my skin immediately and it is my fastest medicine.

Thirdly, I work smart.
I do my farm work very early in the morning before 8am or late evening after 5pm. I avoid the afternoon's sun.
That sun can cook my skin, sincerely.

Again, I drink water and wear light clothes. I always have water beside me, and I wear loose, cotton clothes. No tight clothes during heat season.

Some people like my wife love the heat season because it dries their clothes fast and they can move around easily. But for me, it is a season I always pray to pass quickly.

Rainy season may bring mud. Harmattan may bring dust. But extreme heat brings pain to my body.
