We almost always associate going out for a walk with a specific place or site, and almost always with city stays such as parks, avenues, etc.
Today I really had not had one of my plans to go out for a walk, but being in a business in a public establishment, close to the exit of the main town, and seeing that there would be a delay in the matter, I had the desire to take a small country walk.
From the place where I was, I could see the place there on the bend of the road. where, as Naborí said, my barefoot and pure childhood developed.
The sun was already mid-morning, and although it was not suffocating, it did make you frown, protecting your eyes from the radiant light.
I took the asphalt sidewalk with my cell phone at the ready, and at a slow pace I headed towards the place.
The heat inside the urban area is not the same as that of the open field. They have their differences, and they sweat differently. In this short walk along the narrow road, the heat of the sun's rays falling obliquely on the body and the reflection of heat from the pavement combined, which increases the thermal sensation. Crossing the country, the type of heat also changes.
I am amused by the fact that the neighborhood where I was born was demolished with a tile, because the State built a neighborhood as an extension of the town, safer and further away from the banks of the river that in the rainy season always almost completely flooded the settlement that everyone called "el Haceypon." The town continued to grow, and today it is at the same limit where the Arriraypon ended.
I slowly walked the stretch of road that once divided the neighborhood into two almost perfect halves, and while some images of my childhood emerged from the subconscious, they accompanied me on the morning journey.
Of that past world, there really remain very few things as testimony. And among them is the sewer that was made on purpose as a spillway when the river overflowed its channel and flooded the entire neighborhood.
The ceiba of Chaos, when it was flooded the ceiba and the house were surrounded by the water like a small islet near the river bank. There is also the concrete bridge, permanently riding over the river, and there at the bend, the Pelota puddle, my natural beach.
In my mind I was little by little making a 3D survey of the houses, the alleys and the people. Where my house was, the family house, is full of trees and bushes, and an axeman was cutting segments for a small charcoal oven. And a pair of oxen were resting in the shade of some bushes.
The ride was brief and back and forth. Much remains in memory of that environment, but little in reality.
On the way back, the sun was already higher in its celestial vault and was riding on my shoulders, so I accelerated my pace a little, because the heat and thirst were already making themselves felt.
Thank you for accompanying me. J
