Well, I'm gonna make this kinda short, but I wanted to put this out as it's something I'm proud of and finally did it after like half a year, it's only a blood donation, but it meant a lot to me on this special day.
You see, my government even had to spend on radio broadcasting the importance of blood donation. Now I know, a bag of blood can be split into 3 different components. Red cells, platelets, and plasma. So, each donation going to the blood bank has to potential of saving up to 3 lives.
I've been donating blood on and off since I was very young, until I had high blood pressure and stopped. My health isn't at its best shape since I started to put shit in my mouth. Going to the blood bank is like hitting by chance. If my blood pressure isn't really that high that day, they will allow me to donate. If I'm not fit, they will send me back.
Last October, my blood pressure sits at 160/120. My body weight was 82kg. Probably the worst state in the past 10 years. Surprisingly, the medical officer allowed me to still do the donation. That being said the blood bank is running seriously low on budget.
I've been trying to lose weight since that last donation, and things weren't really go that well, but it's a start since I made the new year resolution. Deep in my heart, I know losing weight can bring down a lot of other risks.
And now, half a year gone. I'm about 10kg lighter than I was since my previous blood donation. So happened today is a good Friday, home minister got some church choir to do, and I took a day off to look after the kids. So I took them together with me and do the deed. The blood pressure pump shows me a beautiful 113/93 reading.
I'm not trying to be Jesus, but I'm just feeling happy to have such blood pressure reading. Those medical officer clear me for the donation and I finished the bag in 2 minutes. Well, to me its an unusual meaningful day with such good news. Will be looking forward to saving more lives every 3 months from now on.
