I tried to sleep, but I kept hearing this creaky voice. As the cold breeze brushed through my face, I realized something spooky. I turned towards the direction of the noise, and I found blood trails on the floor. I didn't know what it was, and that made me a little scared. I switched on the lights to find my roommate, but he was not there. That made my fears increase.
I heard the sound again but this time, it sounded differently. It sounded like a whisper. At first, it was very faint, but then it gradually got closer and kept on whispering in my ear. At first, it whispered things in a language I couldn't understand. As this continued, the next thing I heard was;
“Your dead.”
What does this mean? I started feeling uneasy, and I then glanced at my clock. It was about 12:30am. I prayed about that and slept again. At 2:30am, I got up again, and I heard the whispers in the same language. It got closer this time, and again it whispered the same thing,
”Your dead.”
I suddenly couldn't breathe, I frantically fought for my life and before my last breath, I whispered,
“I'm dead.”
I immediately woke up, and that's when I realized it wasn't a whisper, but it was all a dream. I checked the time, and it was 12:30am all over again. It was all but a bad dream after all.
I decided to light the lighter to burn a cigarette, but then, the flame of the lighter refused to ignite, I couldn't fathom what the problem was, but I kept trying to light the cigarette. It seemed impossible for me to do that task, and so, I threw away the cigarette so far.
I heard the creaky sound one more time and I decided to find out the source of the sound. I was all alone in the hostel as this was the holiday period, and now, my mind is stuck on the ghost stories which I have heard many times from my seniors. I was recalling all these thoughts when I heard a knock on my grimy door. That alone was enough to shiver me out.
I heard the knock once again and then gathered all my guts to open the door but as I opened the door, I saw the hostel dog smashing her head on the door. I looked at her gloomy eye, and she barked at me. I became calm after hearing her bark.
We heard the sound this time around but grateful it was not coming from the basement which was famous with the name haunted basement. The sound was coming from the hostel's gate. As I looked towards the gate, I saw a blur of light, leaning over me, very close, but it was not distinguishable as a person. It was more of a person sized version of a colourful nebula. I might have seen a picture of it in a science magazine.

For all the clarity of that distinct feeling, I had no sense of what it wants. I became petrified, and I freaked out. I jumped backwards to the other side of the dog, too terrified to scream. The blur of light disappeared after 5 seconds, and then, I heard a familiar guttural voice coming from the hostel's gate.
When I checked it again, the colourful nebula was none other than my hostel's warden, and that's when I finally took a breath, even after hearing his scold.
