Saludos comunidad holos.lotus@holos.lotus

Greetings, community. holos.lotus@holos.lotus

We spend hours scrolling through social media, comparing lives, decisions, and there is a constant background noise that whispers to us: "what if I'm choosing wrong?".

The simple fact that we are here, reading this, breathing, is because we have already made choices; ranging from the smallest, like deciding what to eat today, to the most transcendental, like with whom we share our life, everything is choice, I am not referring to that optimistic and also lightweight idea that "everything is possible", but to assuming that we can, even if we don't want to, recognize that we have the right to choose. It sounds obvious, right? Well, it isn't so much, many times without realizing it, we delegate that right, we tell our boss, our partner, circumstances, "destiny" to decide for us, which is somewhat wrong.

Maybe we have seen people who complain about their life, as if they were a passenger on some train whose route they didn't choose, when it turns out that they themselves bought the ticket for that train, no one forced us to get on, maybe it wasn't known where it was going, or maybe it was, but they chose to get on anyway. Assuming the right to choose is assuming that we are owners of our life, something that a priori can be frightening, because if we are owners, we are also responsible, but it is the path to stop being victims.

Choosing has consequences, they will not always be the ones we expect, sometimes we choose for love and end up with a broken heart, we choose a career and discover it wasn't what we imagined, we move to another city and feel lonelier than ever; all of that does not invalidate our capacity to choose, rather it strengthens it, because when we assume the consequences—the good and the bad—we are saying: "this was mine, I decided this, and even though it went wrong, I learned and I can choose again." It's not about choosing perfectly, but about choosing authentically, when we make mistakes, instead of blaming the world, we can say: "well, I was wrong, and now what do I choose?".

Every decision we make has a vibration that affects those around us, our children, our partner, friends, coworkers; just as their decisions also affect us, if we understand that choosing is not an isolated act, we begin to choose with more awareness, not from the fear of bothering others, but rather from the responsibility of being part of something more, because life is not a solitary path, it is a network where every knot we make, every choice we weave, modifies the complete map.

I can't help but think about today's world, that one where it seems we are more connected than ever, and yet at times we can end up feeling lonelier, perhaps because we have delegated our capacity to choose to algorithms, to trends, to what "should be done", but the greatest strength we have as humanity is that unbreakable capacity to say "I choose this" and then "I choose that", and thus build, step by step, the life we want to live.

There are days when the weight of deciding overwhelms me, but there are also days when I wake up and feel that the simple fact of being able to choose my attitude toward the day is an immense power, we will not be able to choose what happens to us, but we always can choose how we respond, perhaps that is our strength and responsibility; in that act of choosing, consciously and freely, we are not only building our life, we are edifying the world in which we want to live, and that begins every morning, with the first choice of the day.
