James Rodríguez began his football career at the Tolimense Football Academy. There he began to emerge, and it was where other teams of greater prestige began to notice him. Envidago F.C., from Medellín, was one of those who noticed James and signed him as they saw professional projection in the player, debuting at age 14 in the First A Category of Colombia.
In 2008 he was assigned to Banfield, James became the youngest foreign player to debut in the first division of the Argentine League, with only 17 years.
Two years later, in 2010, James Rodríguez signed for Porto FC, being the first time he played in European football. Three years later, James changed his team again, arriving on this occasion at AS Monaco.
