The world has never been perfect. Well, at least since the fall of man; a knowledge I've come to know from the Bible regarding creation. It was perfect in creation by God, but the fall of man brought about this imperfect world, where a lot of things and deeds, despicable and unpleasant happen. You might come from a different view, and maybe that alludes to the Big Bang as the reason for life on earth. Still, we can agree with the reality that this world isn't perfect, for some reason.
Nevertheless, more than ever, what we have today is a more chaotic, toxic and derailed world than it has ever been. I know we have the privilege and luxury of technology and many other advancements that have made life better. But when we look beyond and deeper, we'll see that even amidst the beauty of these privileges and advantages, we're slowly dying in the aspect that should matter more to us, which is humanity and concern for one another.
You might have wondered why the things we see persist? Why are people so selfish, greedy, hateful, wicked, and all the destructive tendencies? In summary, why are people so vile towards one another? I've wondered that many times, and find it hard to understand why a human being will take the life of their fellow human being. That's the height of it for me. Sadly, this is happening, amidst many other concerns that may not lead to loss of life.
How then does the world get better? How can it be better? How do we move from the world we see to one with more humanity and concern for one another? It starts with understanding why the world is like this today. The simple but heavy answer is that we've become redundant to love, and have become mindlessly destructive. Several things you don't expect keep happening, unbelievable things. Realising this helps to reach and find that healing we need.
More money isn't the answer, nor wealth, resources, and so on. The answer lies in loving one another. The Bible tells me, “Do to others as you would have them do to you” and “Love your neighbour as yourself.” These passages strongly and sufficiently summarise to me what we need as humans, and it starts with me. If I don't see something as okay to be done to me, I shouldn't do it to another, out of love. If I love my neighbour, I won't do things that will hurt and affect them or their lives.
What we need is love. Genuine love is what our world needs. It's the antidote to the poison in our world. Love is what binds us in perfect harmony. If we can truly love one another, we would see ourselves in each other, and so, we would think twice before being selfish, greedy, wicked, hateful, and all that. Nobody in their right minds would want to hurt themselves. So, we see ourselves also being hurt when we become inhumane towards others. The solution is love!
