-- Getting recognition for their content .
-- Making an extra or even a fulltime income on the side.
--Letting people see what they have created (video, photo, artwork or writing) and hope to make a bit of cash on the side.
If your reasoning is that your high quality content is more likely to be seen and acknowledged, I think that you are more likely to get acknowledgement on a number of the other social media platforms.
There appears to be a reluctance to give a “like” through a vote or a comment.
Wanting to make an extra or full time income involves a lot of hard work, or a large amount of capital to be able to buy votes. If you don’t have capital, you need a huge amount of patience as it will take a long time for you to reach the influence and Steem Power that will allow you to buy votes or have the power to vote yourself up to trending status. It also requires a businesslike attitude in order to succeed with regular postings, constant monitoring of followers and keeping up to date with the rules and regulations.
One of the problems that we do have is the fact that a number of people on the Steemit platform do not use their votes and comments to promote other peoples articles and content.
They prefer to try to get maximum power so that they can upvote their own postings.
The moment that people realise that their vote is their voice, things will start to move in direction of the original intent of the designers of Steemit. Now , it is alot of “upvote for upvote”, “follow for follow” and the attitude of “ what is in it for me if I vote or comment on a post ” .
Maybe we should all look at upvoting quality content and letting the bad content, rehashed content and just plain rubbish be relegated to the bottom of the list, as it should be.
This will only happen if you use your votes to create a situation where hundreds of small votes can be equal or more than the few bought votes that are currently causing some questionable content to be on the trending list.
Keep looking at the new posts and upvote those with potential in order to encourage people to continue posting to keep this space alive. If it eventually becomes a bought vote paradise, anything posted can become a trending post.
