It was a day of celebration today for the families of the newlyweds,Mr and Mrs Emeka. Everyone who mattered to the families were around to show their support.
The day started very early, as early as 6am, for everyone who was to attend the wedding. The food was prepared and people were all around getting dressed. When everyone was set to go, we waited for the car to come pick us up to the wedding venue. The couple got married at a marriage registry.
On getting to the venue, we noticed that the couple haven't yet arrived for their own wedding which was supposed to start at 7am as it was the time slot they were given. The parent of the groom tried to sign on behalf of his son but he wasn't allowed to. The groom and bride were the ones that could sign for themselves. In total, 25 couples were married today and they all had their time slots.
So after the couple arrived, their time slot was shifted to a further time. We were lucky that it wasn't shifted to an entirely new day.
When it was their turn to be married, we followed them behind dancing. After that, they sat down and listened as the one marrying them was getting them acquainted with perks of marrying in court. After that, they said their wedding vows, exchanged rings and were then pronounced as husband and wife. They kissed each other, signed on their marriage certificate along with their witnesses. Everyone danced out of the hall as another couple were getting ready to dance in.
The time to take photographs for the sake of preserving memories was the funniest part of the day. Everyone showed their jovial side as well as their composed side. When the skinny groom attempted to carry his rather big, bold and beautiful wife, everyone burst into laughter. Everyone was well represented in the pictures and we had a good time taking them.
Refreshment was served and we all ate, drank and made merry in the Registry premises before we said our goodbyes and went to our respective homes.
In all, it was a great day and i enjoyed myself and also learnt a few new things about court marriages.
