We all know what happiness is. We all have an idea. And as we are different people with different personalities, we each have different things that make us happy. For some it is entertainment, for others it's food, family friends and loved ones and most of all, money. Some people derive happiness in altering some parts of their body, changing their skin color or even moving to a new town. But what do we do when all these things aren't available to us? How then do we keep ourselves happy?
The art of intentional happiness involves keeping oneself happy with all consciousness of mind. Since it seems like our happiness revolve around some certain material things, we can generate happiness from within us when those things aren't there anymore. We can do that by being kind to people, especially random people. I personally have experienced the kind of happiness derived by just committing a simple act of kindness. It has a way of lifting ones spirit.
Another thing to do develop a sense of optimism. Seeing the bright side of things always even when it seems that there's nothing good that's going to come out from that situation. It is like actively walking right down a tunnel hoping to get to the light at the other side. Being an optimist really boosts inner happiness more than you could imagine.
Those points I mentioned above have actually been tested by me and I can say they work like magic. Life is too short to base your happiness on things that can vanish. Practicing intentional happiness is the way to live.
