When I was a lad growing up, I was born and lived in a village called Greasbrough, approx 2 miles from Rotherham.
Back then it was a lovely little village, although, it was one of those places where everyone seemed to know everyone else's business.
At the bottom of the main hill, was a buidling which the locals called the town hall, although, it was a village hall.
The hall has stood there since 1925, and it cost £7000 to build, it has been used for all sorts of things throughout it's history, from a doctors surgery, library, and also hosted things like dances and parties, scouts and guides etc.
However, I remember it as "Play School", somethine we went to before we were old enough to go to school, the last time I was in the place was for my cousins wedding, and I think he's been married 20 years or so now.
Sadly, as with all buildings, the local authority takes over, lets it fall to pieces, and then decid to knock it down. The building was knocked down around 2019, although my pictures date back to 2018. It was demolished 6 years before it's 100th anniversary.
Maybe this post is more of a personal one due to the connection I had with the building from being associated with it from a young age, but you can tell how the council just let it deteriorate before knocking it down.
Originally, I went to shoot the exterior of the hall but due to my surprise, the fire exit had been left open so I walked straight in to get these shots.

The stage, at the back it had been ripped up and people had broken in and stolen water pipes etc so they could earn from the scrap.
Looking back from the stage down the room, the council had used the room as a dumping ground, nearly every window had been smashed, apart from the one below.
The odd window had been like that for years, I always remembering looking at that window as a kid and wondering why is that window different to the rest lol
The kitchen area had been completely trashed. I remember standing on a stool to wash my hands here when I was a young'un.
