Currently I'm on my holidays and enjoying my stay in Northumberland, a place that I've not really visited, only once before and that was work related, so I never got to see the sights or spend some quality time here.
So today we visited Alnwick, it's a lovely town with some great architecture and most of all a castle. You might not know the name of the castle, however parts of it was used in the Harry Potter films, one main scene is where they are learning to fly their broom sticks, sadly I don't have any castle pictures, as I'm going around it tomorrow, and really looking forward to that.
So wandered around the town and found a lovely little market, but to my surprise, there was some one with some owls, now, these creatures always fascinate me and these were beauties, I love the eyes of the top picture, the guy with the owls also had a rare brown barn owl in which this certainly got my attention, he also had an owl (sorry forgot which country it was from), but it was one of the smallest owls in the world (and camera shy too lol).
I held off taking any pics of the castle due to my visit tomorrow.
Anyhow, after our visit to Alnwick, we decided to go on to a place called Seahouses, a lovely little fishing village/seaside town, a place I'd been wanting to visit for a while, as I knew there was a massive castle not far from there.
After having some fish and chips, I decided to walk from Seahouses up to Bamburgh, looking on google maps it was around 3.5 miles or there abouts, so off me and my girlfriend trot, we finally got there over an hour later and knackered, it felt like such a harder walk than it looked, I'm not the fittest bloke by any means and due to my medication, I've put on a bit of girth so to speak, I wanted to get to the other side of the castle and shoot back, as I got on the beach, it decided to absolutely belt it down, the other people who we were with had finished their game of crazy golf and had driven up as we'd got to the location.
I basically took one shot and decided to come home, I had planned a long exposure etc, but the tide was out, I saw a sand dune, popped up onto it and shot this. I did increase the size of the castle for the picture though, to give it a bit more prominence.
Far from my best shots today and feeling a little disappointed, thankfully we are due to go back at some stage in the week, so will keep you all posted.
Thanks for reading my blog, I hope you've enjoyed, all shots done using a sony a7iii with a Canon 40mm f2.8 prime and a Canon 24-105mm F4,0 L series lens, apapted using the Sigma MC-11 EF to E mount lens adaptor.
Hopefully better posts to come through the week.
