We've had some lovely mornings the past few couple of days here in Yorkshire. Yesterday I made a film and took some shots of the lovely frosty sunrise, but this morning I didn't bother, but what I did want to do was to get some shots of the town, I was a bit later than I wanted to be for photography, but I needed to take some photos, I'm not sure if I'm becoming an addict for drone photos lol.
(An aerial shot of Rotherham town centre, boasting a beautiful minster dating back to the 15th century as well as the largest collection of burnt out derelict buildings and closed down shops in Europe.)
The above statement is a joke, but we do seem to have a good share of buildings that have been burned out.
Looking over the town from forge island, the river that runs through the town is the river Don, which the source is at Winscar reservoir in the Peak District, I know this as when I was in the junior school, we went on a school trip to find the source of the Don.
I have been wanting to do a shot just featuring the weathervane on top of the minster looking down over the town, the shot above is my first attempt, please don't think that I flew the drone too close to the church, I used the adobe photoshop enhance tool, this more than double's the amount of megapixels in the shot, then I did an absolute massive crop, not perfect, but never seen it from this angle before.
Just to put the size of the church into perspective, the weathervane is 6 feet in size, so the church is quite a good size in it's own right.
I really hope you have enjoyed todays look at parts of the town, it is a pretty and small town, sadly like lots of places in the UK, due to shopping malls and even online purchasing, the town is only a shell of it's former self.
