when we were walking around exploring Warsaw we came to New Town Market Square where we immediately noticed a beautiful church at the far end of the square with a baroque style green dome. we later learned it was St. Casimir Church but from where we stood on the other end of the square one of the first things i noticed was the reflection of the dome in a puddle on the stone tiles of the square. there was only one problem- the angle to get the best shot of the reflection of the church dome was occupied by a parked car right next to the puddle. as we waited to see if the car would leave we checked out the other buildings around us for some time. but no luck. so i decided to make the best of it and took a few shots facing the car with my back to the church
we meandered to a water fountain in the middle of the square and then over to the church. though we could step inside the door entrance farther inside was closed to the public. so we wandered over to the wonderful statue of Maria Curie and sat overlooking the Vistula River and the park along it before heading back toward Old Town. and sure enough by that time the car was gone and i was able to get the shot i had hoped for- the church dome together with the drinking water fountain
i have posted a similar photo as my entry in an earlier week of this contest more than a year ago so this is not my entry now. mostly i am including it as an example of how a single puddle can give dramatically different reflections depending on where it is viewed from. and also to encourage folks to visit the wonderful city of Warsaw.
