If you have been following my posts, I shared that my area is considered to be in extreme draught with very little rain all summer. All the plants and trees had died or went dormant.

About three weeks ago, we had a nice rain which soaked the ground even though it was not enough to really run. Well, a lot of the plants has taken this as a sign to begin flowering. I guess they thought they had better hurry up and produce flowers to seed so that they could continue on.

The good news is that we have had small showers each week since then that has helped the plants continue flowering.

Here is a Velvet-Leaf mallow that has grown next to our side walk.

We had thought that our sunflower plants were dead and was thinking about pulling them up but the rains have let them grow new leaves and add additional blooms.

This little white flowers started sprouting all over the yard as well. There flowers unusually last only about three days. You can see how dead the grass is around where these flowers has grown up.

There is also some clover looking plants that have bloomer with pink flowers through out the yard as well.
