Since I had added Students to my dCity in prior weeks, I wanted to provide "Free Education".
When shopping for the "Free Education" NFT, I found one offered in SIM which cost the equivalent of 1.34 Hive and another that was priced in Swap.Hive for a lot lower price of 0.8 Swap.Hive. I bought the cheaper of the two.
But while I was going through this process, my mind started thinking about the cost of education and the fact that education is never really free.
There is a cost to any type of education that a person receives. That person may not need to take money out of their pocket at that point in time to pay for it but this does not mean there is not a cost to providing this "Free Education".
Even when a person volunteers to provide education to someone, that volunteer is actually choosing to teach and not receive compensation so it is costing them the time and foregone income they could have received by getting paid to do something else with that same time.
I have heard many people complain that a person has to pay too much to get an education at a College or University and that person goes into too much debt to get that education. Let's just say we gave that person the same education for "Free", the underlying cost would still be the same that someone else would have to fork over the funds to cover. Most of this would be from the government and guess what the government gets its money from taxes.
So I guess "Free Education" is based on how you look at it. Personally, I believe we should be looking at the quality of the Education provided but that is just my opinion.
dCity Progress
In addition to purchasing the "Free Education" NFT, I also purchased another Basic Home. I want my workers to have a place to live in my dCity.
I also purchased enough SIM to get over 8000 SIM in my wallet so that I can start having Sim Power. I would like to start participating in the Governance of dCity by voting on the next President. This is not possible until SIM Power starts showing up on my account.
My daily SIM income had increased to 5 SIM per day however due to another crisis, it has dropped by to 3 SIM per day. I will need to look at this to see if I can increase it further or offset the impact of future crisis that may hit my dCity.
