Ever felt like people do not really appreciate you for who you truly are? Many times over, we find ourselves in a situation where people push you in a corner because the think in there little minds about the fact that there is little to which can be offered from you. Isn't that interesting that if we look deeply and we analyze the eventuality of how people have risen in the ranks and are still moving higher, a large part of their growth come from people who have helped them up and most times, these people do not look like they are the miracle.

Short Story

I remember in the University days when everybody goes for classes, read and read and read, wait for exams and leave for holidays. These is more like a general practice of lifestyle every student had in school then.

On this very particular day, one of the lecturers visited the class and after he delivered the lecture, there was a guy who looked like he was about 25years of age, firm, tall and very gentle. The gentle man asked a question on the just concluded subject of discuss and it turned out that the lecturer got upset and lashed out at the guy saying, "I have explained these earlier in my discuss and if you don't have any important thing to day, sit down and shut it". It sounded like they had an issue before,which of course is a regular assumption in a conventional Nigerian university where for one out of so many reasons, a lecturer will most likely have issues with a female student over having an affair with another student who either is a course mate of the student or a student under the lecturer. Well, the class ended that day and everyone departed.

Few months later, my lecturer needed to travel to a far country and of course, after all the processing and documentations, he was allowed to travel. On getting to the airport, he met a young man and sought to do all the processing and to his amazement, even if he had a ticket which was for the economy section, he was upgraded to the first class section. In amazement, he called to question what really happened and there seem not to be any valuable explanation as the lady behind the counter just nodded her head and said nothing with a smile on her face.

Well,it happened that he traveled and on his way back to nigeria, he also experienced the same thing and this time after landing in the country, he decided to question what was going on, well someone told him he could seat at the lobby that a man needed to see him as the man has been the one responsible for his amazing experience thus far. He waited at the lobby and just few minutes later a man in white appeared and asked that he followed him somewhere within the complex. He followed to a room with a table set in a well-prepared dinner form and he was asked to sit and could start eating. Still stunned, he couldn't even lift the spoon. Then a gentleman walked in and greeted him, he looked up and behold it was the same student he shouted at few months ago in the class room who now appears to host him in a board room. After the guy was done talking, it happened that the gentleman was the highest shareholder in the aviation company and was in the position to affect a lot of decisions made by the board of the company.

He then reminded the lecturer about the question he asked him the other day in class, the lecturer couldn't remember because he had so much on his mind and how would he have remembered such a seemingly trivial event that happened a long time now. It turned out that the young man asked the question in order to find the very last clue that helps him approved a multi-billion dollar research grant that the lecturer had a applied for with the same aviation company. He wanted just a last word from the lecturer which he turned away for reasons he couldn't put together himself.

The multi-billion dollar contact was awarded to someone else, well, not on the occasion of what the lecturer did to the guy, but on the basis that the other applicant gave all the answers.

Common mistakes we make

• Too much emphasis on self-worth
• Little emphasis on people worth
• Assuming our miracle is already in a mansion, meanwhile it is still lurked up in a Hut.
• Looking down on people basically because they don't look like our painting of a helper
• Inability to control or tame our tongue even when things we say will hurt people

Moral lessons from the story

• Everyone is important and should be treated as one
• Because your choices determine the future you eventually lay hold on, choose wisely
• If all you know is good, do it well and to everyone you have opportunity to do good to
• Your opportunities won't look like what they are, so seize every moment You will only become the result of your choices
