I wanted to give you another update since this robot project is moving forward, and one way or another I am going to have a skeleton in my hands sooner than I expect. What is this thing going to look like anyways??
We were discussing material costs and I opted for the SOLID print with a harder material versus a hollow print with a softer material. I wasn't quite sure what the result would be, but let's take a look at the skeleton in Unreal. Once all the parts are fabricated, I can lay them out on the table.
I converted the STL files into FBX files so that I could import them as static mesh objects. Then I assembled it in a blank character blueprint. I don't think I will be able to wire up the physical robot with the unreal engine simulation, but they can be two separate parts of this project for now.
This chest piece has been printed first and it appears to have turned out quite well.
It seems sturdy and solid, and I really like the black material. This is either going to inspire or terrify, either way it is going to be a great conversation piece this year as I paint a vision of possibilities.
I need to raise about 5000 HBD. The short term fundraising target
is $1250 to finish the fabrication and start ordering motors.
You can still read and vote on my previous updates.
