Closer analysis post-match reveals that, while the raptor posed an imminent threat, it was my opponent who actually dealt the final blow.
While the Gnome and I were exchanging shot for shot, on the hillside my opponents teammate was ambushed.
While trying to get away he lead them right into our battle. It was at this moment I realized, I was in trouble. The raptor on the left locked his sights on me and if I had quicker thinking I would have built a wall.
While reloading, and getting pounced on by a raptor, the Gnome managed to pick me off.
