Adjusting the keyboard several times and moving his mouse around aimlessly, he began with haste to find the words which would unveil themselves at his fingertips. Dragging one window onto the other and then adjusting his seat he prepared to light fire to the scene of the mind. No one dare interrupt the stream of ideas that are here now set forth!

Some time ago I wondered what it might be like, as I stared up at the stars in the sky, to be. To lay on my back with the entire earth behind me, as I fly through space above. The millions of stars above were deepest seen in total darkness so as lights began to fill the streets and shine ever brighter, the sky only shines dimly in the city. At chance opportunities out in the country side to stop, gaze up and wide your eyes to see all the stars above shining deep down on us in the milky way. We are visitors here too upon this ball of dirt and water hurtling through the cosmos.

And then here I am with my head in the grass and the sky above, the longer I stare into the deep darkness the more stars reveal themselves to me. Some familiar shapes above, others with names I did not recall. The constellations like a carousel of seasons from the north star point from where the sky is turning. And I recall in Winter searching for the Hunter Orion and his belt, or The Big Dipper, or the Pleadaes twinkling softly in the frost breeze. Crunching snow below.

Resting deeply against the earthen mound above where town lights may have diminished the view, perhaps too in ancient times, people sought those places just outside the fences where we could see the beauty of the sky above. Entranced by the mirrors below do we look up often enough? Can our presence be present and clear so we can see what is true and inevitable?

Calmly I peer into the bottom of my empty coffee cup and glance at the empty bowl beside it. My mind has been taken to places I will need to be, not present, but future and what will be past soon. I have pains in my chest I think its from slouching. Perhaps my chair is too high, so I lower it. That seems to help but to resume my momentum I need to consider that I have some data to review and that would be a next logical step to prepare when I am ready. Where was I?

During the day it's easy to ignore the stars. The biggest, brightest and closest one is up there screaming all day, but after long summer days, it rests for the remainder of the year. Counting down to December 21st solstice and then all the way back to Summer by June 21st. We run around with things to do, or hide indoors and sleep soundly all night. But when you have a chance when you are out and about to look up in awe it is a sight I suggest you do not ignore!
