It rang again!
But this time, i was too weak to obey the call. Tick tock, time go and wait for no man. Alarms are man’s best friend, considering how small it can be but how powerful what they do is.
They wake you to reality from the land of dreams. You have the luxury to dream and also be time conscious through the alarm set.
As a creativity person, there is this ritual i do first thing in the morning, which is to write down my monring thought down. This is something i learnt from reading “The complete Artist’s way” by Julia Cameron. You write your first thoughts on 3 pages at exactly 4am.
To stick to this little ritual, i went to my best friend, alarm, to act as an accountability partner and wake me up every morning by that time so i can pen down my daily thoughts and kickstart my day.
But just like every other good friend, i most time took it for granted because i love my sleep better. I even sometimes utter little piece of swear words at it for doing what i ask it to do.
Sometimes i throw it away because of how annoyingly it sounds when it tries to wake me up. Oh my my, imagine it can talk. If my alarm can talk, i can only imagine what it would have said to me.
“You are a lazy person” — i can imagine my alarm saying this on a cold morning when I’m finding it difficult to wake up and write my morning pages. I can see myself utterly words like, I’m not lazy, i need to sleep.
“Can you stop snoozing me?” — This is after i might have snooze the alarm about 24 times!!! As if i was going to wake up for the task. This is always a funny situation as much as i can remember. Most of us are guilty of situations like this. We snooze and snooze and snooze, then we still don’t stand up from that bed. Lol.
”Am i not loud enough?” — This is on days I couldn’t hear the alarm. It’s always a mix feelings. Sometimes i wonder how deeply i must have slept for me not to be disturbed by the ringing of the alarm bell. On different occasions, I’m happy i didn’t hear it, and on other cases, I’m sad i missed out on writing my morning pages.
”Wow you listened today” — This would have been on days, i deferred my sweet sleep, listen to what the alarm is trying to tell me and step up to the task. This is suppose to be the normal arrangement on a daily basis but life doesn’t always got the way we plan it.
All in all, I do really wish my alarm could talk, because I’m certain through communication, it will be able to understand me on days I didn’t listen to it. What is the probability the tech industry isn’t working that idea right now? I can’t say.
This is my entry for this week #Hiveghana prompt.
