I've only ever worn NB... I know there are plenty of other choices available, but NB fit my foot, and I've never had any issues, so not risking trying something new!
Nothing wrong with cheaper shoes, but if you're stepping and running more frequently then it might be worth investing in a more expensive pair of shoes. Shoes (along with batteries and a proper 'winter coat') are one of the few things I will pay good money for
Top tip, have a look if you can find older versions of shoes, when a new shoe is released, then shops reduce the price of pervious year shoes... plenty of bargains on top brands to be had if you shop around
