Since my matchup in #poliac today is the current leader I wanted a more ambitious walk than usual. I started along my usual route down the riverbank path to Alton Baker Park, but then I kept going all the way down to the Knickerbocker Bike Bridge. As I was crossing I noticed some rocky areas on the hill on the far side and thought about the point of interest “Pre’s Rock” which I’ve seen in AR games I play like Pikmin Bloom but wasn’t sure what it was. I decided to walk up to it, hoping there would be a scenic overlook or something. I walked up some pretty steep roads in a residential area, and found out that the rock is a memorial where track-and-field legend Steve Prefontaine died in a car accident in 1975. Apparently athletes leave items there as a tribute. There was no formal overlook but the photo I took holding my camera above the chain link safety fence along the road seems pretty nice.

Later in the day, a little after noon, I walked to the grocery store and back. Then I took a walk along the section of riverbank path near my apartment. Ideally I would have taken a longer afternoon walk but the temperature had gotten near ninety degrees by then so I decided not to push it and risk overdoing it in the heat.
